Manually Force to generate dump file on Windows
I thought I would never wanted a blue screen on my machine don’t even mention about forcing the OS to die. It turns out that I needed one when I was working with Microsoft Performance Team in troubleshooting with one of the server. I won’t rewrite the details. Just refer to this article Windows feature lets you generate a memory dump file by using the keyboard. I took some screenshot too. Just bear in mind that if you are using USB keyboard and followed the instructions to unplug and replug the keyboard and it still won’t work, just reboot will do the trick.
It is also possbile to use remote access card (as in my case) to execute the command. For Dell remote access card DRAC, you can find the command in the Macros. Once you execute it, screen turns blue and wait for about 10 seconds, it will start dumping physical memory from 0 – 100. Pretty neat!
